We slept in a bit and Jon even took me to into Michigan so we could lay claim to another state...what a sweetie he is! We then came back into town and walked around Notre Dame campus. As much as I love the Boulder campus, I will admit that Notre Dame campus is pretty cool, but I'm holding to the area of Boulder is way better! Wylie was excited to see all of the "castles" on campus and Cade got excited about all of the maintenance vehicles. Jon was happy that he got to see Touchdown Jesus since that area was under construction last time we went. By the way, if anyone is wondering, no Wylie does not want to go to Notre Dame because she wants to go to kindergarten :-) We left South Bend at 9:39 and entered Ohio at 10:58. Wylie declared during this drive "Emma and me are adults, because we can drink spicy juice (red Gatorade)". Who knew that's all it took for one to become an adult. Lunch was at a Toll Plaza, just something quick so we could get on the road and to the cousins!!! From lunch on Wylie planned out what she and her cousins were going to do-play at the beach, but they can't loose the toys, give the special rocks to the boys, but not to Baby Delia, go to a baseball game, swim, play at a playground, play in the broken tent, on and on and on. When she wasn't planning this, she was planning her birthday party. It's going to be some kind of combination of butterflies, Tinkerbell, Princess and pink. It will be at a different school and a park. Mommy, Daddy and Cade can come & bring cake and balloons. She will draw a map so all of her friends know how to get there and she will show them where to put their shoes.
We arrived at Lakehurst Bungalow in Ashtabula at 3:18. It's a cute little tourist town and we just feel so happy to finally be in a place that we can unpack and relax for a few days. The house is nice and the company, adult and kid, is even better. Wylie and Qinn became quick best of friends. They walk around holding hands and run around together all over the place. Cade is his normal Monkey-See-Monkey-Do self and tries really hard to keep up with the big kids. Elliott hangs back a bit, but is enjoying playing as well. Delia just watches and takes it all in. She is a smiling sweetie. We had hamburgers and hot dogs in the back yart looking over Lake Erie while the kids ran around in the "really, really huge" backyard. We all went down to the private beach for a while. They were all so excited that they had a hard time going to sleep and Wylie was the last to succomb at 11:00ish.
Lessons Learned:
-Ohio is pretty...who knew!
-Living in a house that is a cell phone dead zone is a little weird, but quiet!
-We didn't have internet for a while so we were living like in the olden days, which you really can do!
-Staying in seperate bedrooms than your spouse is a is a little strange. You don't really know how nice it is to be able to chit-chat and compare notes at night until you don't have it, but agian, it can be done.
